ABOUT US
Do you know me?
i’m Ashley Steeves
Ashley Steeves has been dancing most of her life, taking classes when she was 3 and again at 9, though she was considered a “late starter” because she officially began taking ballet classes at 14. The Ballet School taught her clean technique and she was able to fulfill her dream of dancing en pointe with Elizabeth Drucker. Ashley has also danced with Full Circle Dance Studio, Gemini Dance Company, Vivid Motion Dance Company, Dirigo Dance Project, Tony Dance Fitness Studio, and many others. She also received extensive theater and music training with TEACH in Sanford, ME. This passion for theater was fostered by wonderful teachers who taught her the foundations of stagecraft. She started Resurgence Dance Company in October 2013. Ashley realized that once a student graduated high school, they no longer had a place to train or hone their skills. RDC is meant to fill that void, offering a place to train and perform as a dancer. Ashley believes that we never stop training, and is always looking for the next technique to improve her own skills as a teacher, choreographer, and director.
Mission Statement
Resurgence Dance Company’s mission is to cultivate a performing arts community for adults and young dancers who love to move.
Company philosophy
RDC values a safe environment for dancers of all backgrounds to train their skills in. We make it our priority to offer holistic training so the dancer is able to connect their body and mind to everything they do. Autonomy is important to us and we always want dancers to perform in a way that feels right for them.

Resurgence Dance Company presents “A Bright Room in a Dark Place”, a full length contemporary ballet. This will be the premier showing featuring romantic characters, a beautiful backdrop painted by artist Magdalyn Hugo, and dreamy movement - the first of its kind since 2019! Artistic Director Ashley Steeves builds a world of apothecaries, whimsical herbalists, sapphic love, unrequited rivalries, and a hint of magic. If you’re a regular audience member, you know it wouldn’t be an RDC performance without a touch of melancholy. A show for theater lovers and foragers alike, there’s something for everyone. This show is suitable for ages 6+.
